If you are in the process of starting a small business you probably have a very long “To Do” list. You have probably stressed over finding office/store space, creating a logo, creating a website, decorating your office/store, etc. All focused on having a professional look and feel. While these are important they may not be the most important thing for you to spend your time on.
The key is to stay focused on things that will make you money. Creating a quality product/service to sell, selling it and getting it to the customers. I talk to so many people who are starting businesses and they get obsessed with things like logos, the perfect website and office furniture and spend months working on this. They say they can’t start selling their product or service until they have everything in place and perfect.
I disagree with this. I think you need to stay focused on the items on your “To Do” list that will make you money. Look at your list each day and ask yourself which items are going to help make me money today. Don’t obsess over making everything perfect. Don’t get distracted by the tasks won’t help you make money. Unless it’s paying the bills and doing your taxes, some things have to get done, so use common sense here.
What have you obsessed over that ended up distracting you from making money?
