In another indication that Cyber Monday and the holiday marketing season is alive and “clicking,” Web Host Industry News cites an industry report showing an increase in email marketing activity over the last few weeks, compared to similar figures for 2007. The report is based on an Index that compiles data from the top 100 Internet retailers, which all sent an average of 2.7 different promotional emails during the week of Cyber Monday.
More than half of all the emails referenced Christmas, and a good majority of them were sent out on Cyber Monday. Winter sports, toys, cashmere and holiday parties were also very popular keywords included in the emails.
Many Internet retailers, and even other traditional businesses, are now starting to jump on board with email marketing because of its cost effectiveness and ability to reach people now spending more time in front of their email box compared to their traditional outside mailbox.
A few things to keep in mind as you’re developing an email marketing strategy. 1) Design your emails in a way that will draw attention; 2) Make sure you have an extremely compelling subject line; 3) Have a specific and clear call to action; and 4) Tie it back to a specially designed Landing Page to reinforce your holiday campaign.
